Calpundit: John Lott Update

JOHN LOTT UPDATE....Why did John Lott remove his name from the response he wrote to the Stanford Law Review article that savaged his research? Instapundit has an update (at the bottom of the post) giving Lott's side of the story.

That may very well be the lamest excuse I have ever read.

I think Lott would be much better of if he started keeping his mouth shut. Every time I read one of his defenses, it seems to me that he is less and less trustworthy.

Yes; if he shuts up, we'll make his excuses for him (via "benefit of the doubt"): well, maybe he... I mean, we can't exclude the possibility that...

It's the strawman-creator's job to choose the least likely excuse available, not the defendant's.

Why yes it is. I believe Kevin will attest to his experience with Lott being similar to mine in that, Lott tends to avoid actually dealing with substance and most often finds a way to turn it into some sort of side show about personality or other irrelevant issue.

I personally think that is his schtick--stay away from substance and proclaim unfairness instead of dealing with substance.
